Is Clapham Old Town one of the best places to live in SW London?  A view from Nick Goble – CEO & Founder of Noble Estates

Having sold and rented property in Clapham Old Town for the last couple of decades, I am continually astonished by the ever-increasing charm and popularity of this area.

It’s a real gem.

Since Covid, the old town has come back with real vigour. I feel the key to the success of the area is the amazing range of independent businesses.  When you have people who are personally invested in the area it makes a huge difference. Whilst we have a few national brands, they are not in the majority.

The Old Town offers an eclectic mix of culture, artisan shops, outstanding pubs, a Michelin starred restaurant, superb transport links and good schools whilst all being within a stone’s throw of the stunning 85 hectares of Clapham Common. What more do you need!

Whilst the independent businesses help to drive the popularity of the area, it is supported brilliantly by organisations such as:

There is a true sense of community, which is rare in London.

Best Pub Food: This is a difficult one as we have such exceptional candidates from the newly refurbished Rose and Crown, The Apollo Arms, the trusty No32 and the acclaimed Pigs Head.

Best Bar: This must be 1833 run by Matt and Sasha. They have a great Cocktail Happy Hour.

Best Restaurant: My vote goes to the outstanding 1-star Michelin Trinity. Simply superb.

Culture: The Omnibus Theatre is an award-winning, multi-arts theatre offering not only productions but also community events/space. Dame Judi Dench is one of a long list of famous patrons.

Best Café: Once again we are spoilt for choice. Our top 3 favourites are Brew and Barrel, Willows and Common.

Best Retailer: As we have what we consider to be the best butcher in London – Moen’s, they must be on the list, but Jekyll + Wild, who offer a range of exotic and rare plants typifies the old town.

If you want advice on your property, it is clear that we love and understand the area. Being the only independent agent in the Old Town, we are personally invested to ensure we offer an exceptional service like our fellow businesses above.
